News Team
Do you like being on camera? Do you like filming and editing? Do you want to represent your school? You should apply to be on News Team! This year's 6th and 7th graders are invited to apply for News Team next year. We're looking for creative, hard-working, energetic team members to help us create our weekly news program.


If you're interested, apply at bit.ly/NewsTeamApplication. You also need a teacher recommendation. Talk to a teacher you know well and have them fill out the form at bit.ly/TeacherRecommendation.

Life Leaders
Do you want to influence change at OMS? Do you have leadership skills that would contribute to a positive climate at OMS? Do you demonstrate positive Cougar Pride character traits? If you are going to be in 8th grade next year then you should apply to be a Life Leader!

Pageturners for May!
Pageturners is Olson's book of the month club. Each month we read a different book and meet once a week during lunch on Tuesdays. Here's what we're reading:
6th Grade is done for the year.
7th Grade meets in Mrs. Gillis' room and will be reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
8th Grade meets in the Media Center and we haven't chosen which book we're reading yet!

Makerspace Club
Do you like creating and making? Want to 3D print, build a Lego robot, or design your own video game? You should join us for Makerspace Club! Every Thursday right after school you're welcome to come to the Makerspace Lab (in the Media Center) for some time to create. Starting Thursday, October 25 and continuing every Thursday from 2:45-3:45. If you have questions, talk to Mr. Beck, Ms. Honerbrink, or Ms. Pedersen. No need to signup, just show up

Olson Needs..
Do you know someone who needs a little help? A warm coat, dry boots, mittens, food, jeans that fit, school supplies, or something else?  If you or someone you know here at Olson could use some basic needs met click on the link below to let us know and we'll see if we can help.  bit.ly/OlsonNeeds

Have an Idea for a News Show Feature?
Do you know of something happening here at OMS in a club, activity or classroom that should be shared?  Is someone at OMS doing something outstanding, like a fabulous volunteer? or an activity that needs recognition?  We'd love to create a feature based on your idea, just let us know and we'll see what we can do.  Just fill out the Feature Idea Form (http://preview.tinyurl.com/show-feature) electronically or stop by the Media Center, fill out the form and drop it in the green feature suggestion box.
