Congratulations OMS Math Team
Our Red team again took first place and our Black team took fourth.  The top scorers were Shayaan Gandhi and Caroline Yue both with 14 points.  Way to go, mathletes!
 
Our next practice is after break: January 2nd after school at 2:45 - 3:45 in A106.  See you there!

Stock Market Game Begins!
Sign up during Academic Seminar in the cafeteria on January 16th and January 18th! $100,000 in virtual money  to invest and learn about real-world economics. Questions? See Mrs Lundberg in B202

December Pageturners!
Pageturners is our book of the month club and meets once a week during student lunches.  No need to sign up, just show up.  Here are our December book picks!
-6th Grade meets in Mr. Swanson's room on Tuesdays and will be reading Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson.
-7th Grade meets in Mrs. Gillis' room on Mondays and will be reading Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol by Tom Mula.
 -8th Grade will be taking off the month of December.  We'll have a new book in January!

Wrestling Results!
In Plymouth, the OGMS wrestling team beat Plymouth 31-6 and fell short 27-18 to Wayzata West.  Representing Olson, 8th grader Aedan Bertrand collected a 9-1 major decision against Plymouth!  He's 9-1 on the season.  6th grader Patrick Simmons collected a pin against Wayzata, pushing his record to 5-2.  Congratulations and go Cougars as they head to VVMS on Thursday afternoon to take on Lakeville and Prior Lake!

Culture Club..
..is a great way to learn more about yourself, your culture, and others around you!  We'll discuss our stories, traditions, and family history, then share it with others to increase empathy and understanding at OMS.  You'll also be able to share your ideas with OMS teachers in the future. This is open to ALL students.  Monday's from 2:45 - 3:45 in the lunchroom.  Meet with Ms Oni and Mr Teddy. (You will need a ride home at 3:45 or you'll be sent to Galaxy until your ride arrives.)

OMS Spring Musical Auditions!
Legally Blonde, Jr cast has been posted in various places around the building.  Keep an eye out for the cast sheet and congratulations to all the cast and crew members!

Coding Club!
Do you want to make your own games, apps, websites, and animations?  Join Coding Club on Mondays for the rest of the year.  All ability levels are welcome!  We'll help you find something you're passionate about creating and help find the resources you need to make it happen.  No signup necessary.  If you have any questions, ask Mr. Beck!

Girls' Winter Volleyball Team
If you are interested in playing Winter Volleyball here at OMS, with no charge to join!, see Mr Anderson in A201.  Join the team, you'll have a blast! Did we mention it's free?!

Open Makerspace Time Is Back!
Makerspace is now open every Thursday from 2:45-3:45 in our new space! Do you want to build Lego robots, program Spheros, design for the 3D printer, or play with electricity?  Then come to the OMS Makerspace!  No need to sign up, just show up.

Don't Forget Mr Swanson's "Adventure Book Club"
After school on  Wednesdays in C205. Find out about great stories or survival and adventure and make a walleye fishing spinner every week!
