Pageturners for November
Pageturners is Olson's book of the month club. Each month we read a different book and meet once a week during lunch on Tuesdays. Here's what we're reading:
6th Grade meets in Mr. Swanson's room and will be reading The Giver by Lois Lowry.
7th Grade meets in Mrs. Gillis' room and will be reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick.
8th Grade meets in the Media Center and will be reading Esperanza Rising by Pan Munoz Ryan.
Do you like creating and making? Want to 3D print, build a Lego robot, or design your own video game? You should join us for Makerspace Club! Every Thursday right after school you're welcome to come to the Makerspace Lab (in the Media Center) for some time to create. Starting Thursday, October 25 and continuing every Thursday from 2:45-3:45. If you have questions, talk to Mr. Beck, Ms. Honerbrink, or Ms. Pedersen. No need to signup, just show up
Any boy interesting in learning to play lacrosse please pick up information from Mr. Gilbert in A206. Jefferson Lacrosse and Bloomington Lacrosse have set up 3 indoor dates to try lacrosse for free where all gear will be provided.
Do you love to sing? Then you should join the honors choir here at OMS! The honors choir is called Dolce Singers and we have auditions every day after school this week. You do not need to prepare anything ahead of time. Just pick up the audition form outside of the choir room, fill it out, get a parent signature and bring it with you when you come to audition. Auditions are any day after school this week from 2:45-3:05 pm. If you love to sing, you will love this choir! Questions, please ask Mrs. Ohnsorg in the choir room.
Do you know someone who needs a little help? A warm coat, dry boots, mittens, food, jeans that fit, school supplies, or something else? If you or someone you know here at Olson could use some basic needs met click on the link below to let us know and we'll see if we can help. bit.ly/OlsonNeeds
Have an Idea for a News Show Feature?
Do you know of something happening here at OMS in a club, activity or classroom that should be shared? Is someone at OMS doing something outstanding, like a fabulous volunteer? or an activity that needs recognition? We'd love to create a feature based on your idea, just let us know and we'll see what we can do. Just fill out the Feature Idea Form (http://preview.tinyurl.com/show-feature) electronically or stop by the Media Center, fill out the form and drop it in the green feature suggestion box.
Please take the time to look through the OMS Student Handbook. It contains information on expectations, consequences and procedures here at Olson Middle.
